Tony’s Chocolonely
We love Tony’s Chocolonely because they’re not just making incredible chocolate they’re on a mission to make chocolate 100% slave-free. Their bars are bold, chunky and packed with seriously good flavour combinations, but it’s the purpose behind the wrapper that really won us over.
Indulgence with a Conscience
Tony’s is leading the charge for fairer cocoa sourcing, better farmer livelihoods and full supply chain transparency, proving that chocolate can taste amazing and do amazing things. Add in their bright, joy-filled packaging and playful personality and you’ve got a brand that brings energy, ethics and proper deliciousness to the shelf exactly the kind of disruptor we love championing at Cook & Nelson.
Unwrapping Tony’s
One of the things we really love about Tony’s Chocolonely is the experience of opening a bar it’s impossible not to smile. You peel back that bright, bold wrapper and instead of neat little squares, you find big, uneven chunks of chocolate. Those unequally divided pieces are designed to spark conversation about the inequality in the chocolate industry and remind us that the profits in cocoa haven’t historically been shared fairly.
It’s chocolate with a purpose, wrapped in joy and broken on purpose. Add the seriously delicious flavours and creamy texture and you’ve got a bar that tastes good, feels good and stands for something bigger. Exactly why we’re so proud to have Tony’s in the Cook & Nelson whānau.
Why you’ll love Tony’s Chocolonely
Tony’s Chocolonely exists to end all forms of exploitation in the cocoa industry. And so, we deliberately choose to source cocoa from Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire ’cause that’s where more than 60% of the world’s cocoa is produced – and where some of the biggest challenges lie.
In these 2 countries alone, 1.56 million children in cocoa-growing households are involved in child labour, 30,000 people are victims of forced labour and 60,000 hectares of tropical forest have been cleared for cocoa production since January 2019 alone.
